The Genesis of Cotech

The world today has been reduced to a global village. This paradigm shift is attributed to the advanced technology in communication, health, security, education, business, and more. With this, there has been a considerable improvement in literacy and skills advancement in the global population that has eventually catalyzed human coexistence.

Sadly, as the world dynamically moves forward, most grassroots villages in the suburbs of Africa are yet to experience these advancements. In many parts of Kenya, women and youths are languishing in poverty and desperation despite attaining O-level certificates with promising grades. This poses a great threat to economic freedom, security, and informed decision-making in current affairs. This is also a threat to achieving a successful United Nations SDG.

The major contributing factor is the lack of skills appropriate skills needed in the current world. The Kenyan government Through the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) advocates for 100% transition in classes. While this is a well-thought-out move, it raises the question: "What next after form four?" Unfortunately, the system has failed to ensure a considerable transition of learners from high school to colleges and universities where they could acquire relevant skills.

Youths, to cushion themselves, have resorted to irresponsible and unbecoming behaviors to earn a living. Think of drug traffickers, juvenile gangs, radicalized groups, and sex traders. On the other hand, Women who are unskilled, move to towns in search of jobs as domestic workers, only to fall prey to gender-based violence, exploitation, and modern-day slavery.
