Our Beginning

Cotech was founded in response to a clear and urgent reality: across many parts of Kenya, young people with immense potential remain excluded from the digital economy.

In Trans Nzoia County, this gap is especially visible. Despite strong community resilience and a growing youth population, access to digital skills, tools, and employment pathways remains limited.

What began as a small, youth-led initiative has evolved into a structured effort to address this gap — grounded in the belief that access to digital opportunity should not be determined by geography or income.

Context: Trans Nzoia County

Located between Mount Elgon and the Nzoia River, Trans Nzoia is widely known for its agricultural productivity. However, beneath this potential lies structural challenges that limit economic mobility, especially for youth.

The Challenge

  • Limited access to practical, job-relevant digital skills
  • Low exposure to technology and digital opportunities
  • Economic dependence on unsustainable livelihoods
  • Infrastructure gaps including internet access
  • Social challenges affecting youth outcomes

Our Story

“We do not see ourselves as saviors, but as enablers — creating opportunities for others to rise.”

Cotech was founded by young people from Trans Nzoia who have experienced these challenges firsthand.

We are graduates who chose to return to our communities — not only to build our own futures, but to expand opportunity for others.

Our work is rooted in lived experience, guided by inclusion, transparency, and a commitment to creating real pathways from skills to income.

Cotech Training

Our Approach

Cotech delivers practical, hands-on digital training through community-based models designed to improve access and create employment pathways.

Since inception, Cotech has trained over 1,200 youth, with growing evidence of transition into income opportunities.

This is not a concept — it is a working model already delivering measurable outcomes.

Our Belief

We believe opportunity is not absent — it is unevenly distributed. With the right tools and access, underserved youth can fully participate in the digital economy.

Why Cotech Exists

Technology is no longer optional — it is foundational to economic participation. Cotech ensures that digital empowerment reaches those historically left behind.

“We are not just teaching technology — we are enabling participation in the future of work.”

From Understanding to Action

The challenge is clear. The model is proven. The opportunity to scale is real.

What is needed now is the right partnership to expand this impact — reaching more youth and unlocking more livelihoods.
